Medical
Southern Chile is relatively free of disease and has good hygienic
conditions. The places we explore are pristine and untouched, not
crowded or polluted. Nevertheless, it is important to carry cold
medicine, aspirin, and other medicine you use on a regular basis.
Although the Chilean health system is quite advanced, we will be
exploring isolated places where it is also important to carry your
own first aid kit. Do not forget to visit your dentist before coming.
Because of the fact that Hospital facilities in remote destinations
for serious problems are often unavailable and evacuation can be
prolonged, difficult and expensive, or impossible . We assume no
liability regarding provision of medical care at any time during
the trip.
Trip into remotes wilderness areas can be demanding , both physically
and emotionally. As medical facilities can be virtually non-existent
in these areas, emergency medical services can be prolonged, difficult,
and expensive or impossible. YAK EXPEDICIONES assume no liability
regarding the provision of first-aid or medical care on our trips.
Trip members are responsible for their own personal medications.
YAK EXPEDICIONES cannot be responsible for what medications and
inoculations you and your physician determine are necessary for
your health and safety on your specific trip.
You must be in good health to participate in our trips, for your
own safety and well-being of the other trip members.
VERY IMPORTANT:
The decision on staying, continue paddling or
returning will depend on the trip leader. If the trip can´t
continue or has to finish earlier because of weather conditions
, group conditions or trip leader decision....this particular situation
doesn't mean any refund.
If someone during the trip is ill or need to be evacuated ,as
we are travelling in isolated areas and in small groups, all
the group will be evacuated too. All the expenses directly
involved with the evacuation will be charged to the client.
We can offer a special disccount in the same trip for the next time....
if applicable (if the cause was an illness), according to the space
and dates available in the next trips.
In our trips in remote areas (Northern Patagonia Fjords , Palena
River , Northern Icefield -San Rafael Glacier , Torres del Paine
and others)....evacuation can be extremely slow and sometimes impossible.
Evacuations in this remote areas with helicopter are impossible.....so
please pay attention to the requierements of each trip and your
trip selection.
Any expenses that are not included in the program
will be covered by the participants. Every participant will be
responsible for the equipment and gear given by the company.

possible and when camping , hiking, etc. Select damp places that
facilitate decomposition and that are away from the campsite and
leave it well covered with a log, rock, or earth.
